Anyway, this is a quick note to inform all paid customers that they can contact us if the  original purchase information has been lost.

We have customers from as far back as 2000 March. Some of you will find newer (major) versions of the products you had purchased.  In such cases your old registration code will not work. So, look for a download link to the older version (if available) or contact us for upgrading to the newer version. You can always purchase upgrades at  special prices.

You can also use the “Open in Browser” menu item to open the search results for the keyword phrase in Google, Bing or Yahoo.

Look for a set of three small icons on the top right side of the SEO Lab Mac application window when in “SERP compare view“. You can use these to toggle the display between URLs, titles and snippets!

By default, the data store path is at

“My Documents\My Domain Records” in XP or “Documents\My Domain Records” in Vista.

You can access the raw whois data from within the software interface (lower pane) or from outside using a normal text viewer  or editor.

You can also tweak the Windows registry to change the location the whois records are logged to. Run “RegEdit” and check if there is an entry called

“Whois Data Path”

within

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Softnik Technologies\Watch My Domains ISP
v3\Settings

If it is present, it will contain the custom path where the whois data will be saved to. If it is not present the data will be logged to the default data store path. You can create the key to specify a new custom path.

You can do this using the details tab in the lower display pane (next to the raw whois data).

Write Protecting Domain Records

Whenever you  manually enter or edit any data, the software will automatically write-protect that domain record (you can change this behavior from the “application settings” dialog) . This is to prevent manually edited data from getting over-written due to a whois lookup.

Write protected domains will display a [] around the index number for the domain (the “#” column). A ~ in the “# column” indicates that the domain record was manually altered.

To enable the lookup of a write-protected domain, you should unset the write-protection. You can do this by right clicking the domain and selecting appropriate menu option. You can also do this from the details tab by removing the check from  the “write-protect” box.

We do support many languages other than English. These include French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, etc. However if the language is not supported, you need to make sure that the Google exported CSV files contain the column headers in English. You can do this by setting the interface to English in the Google keyword tool. This is easy,  just append  ”?hl=en” to the URL. Here is an example for the Hungarian keyword tool.

This will still allow you to set your market region, but will export the CSV with column headings in English.

Each project consists of multiple files. So the software creates a directory for each one. You can specify a data store path which will become the root directory where all projects are stored.

You should set your data store path just once. If you change the path often the software will create project files at different locations and this will make managing your backups very difficult.

To backup your project files, simply save the entire contents of your data store path to to wherever your backups are stored. You can use the “Save > Set Data Store Path” ribbon bar button to find the actual path that should be backed up.

By default, the data store path is “My Documents/My Domain Records/“

There are times when simple string token settings will not work. Here are a couple of advanced string extraction token examples.

[Zone-C]@@Name:

German domain records have multiple blocks of data each with same text tokens. The above will allow you to extract the “Registrar Name” (look for the token “Name:” that follows “[Zone-C]” in the whois records).

Registrant:@@#L#2

Some whois records may always contain the required data at a specific line number. Use the above to pick the text at line 2 after the occurrence of the token “Registrant:” (please note that blank lines are ignored).
