We develop and sell a number of different software products. We also think we know a lot about these products.
Frequently we receive emails from customers that causes a rethink on our part about some of the features. These mostly involve innovative ways, that we had never thought of, in which people use our software. When we mention these in our sales copy we often see a marked boost in sales.
Whenever you get a chance to discuss your products with your customers find out what feature of your product they find most useful or attractive. Some people refer to this as the customer Wow factor. Very often you will learn something new about your own product. Emphasize it in your sales copy and you will see marked improvement in sales.
The reverse is also true. Check forums related to your products. You will often see comments about why some one didn’t like your product or service. Some times this will be because the person didn’t know how to use a particular feature. If the feature is already present make sure that it is prominently announced in your sales copy.
