Google Keyword Tool Updated

Google has updated the ad-words keyword tool. The "approximate avg. search volume" has now become "Global Monthly Search Volume". This means that the search volumes are based on all countries and languages and not targeted to a specific country or language. You can still see the "local search volume" (based on the targeted country and language) for the previous month.

This update seems to be a part of the new Adword interface rollout that happened today (this was in beta for a while). The new interface appears to require Firefox, Google Chrome or IE7 (it has problems with IE8!).

We have updated Good Keywords v3 and SEO Lab to account for the change in the column names in the CSV files exported from the Google keyword Tool.

We have also improved the Site Analyzer Tool in SEO Lab.

Open the Google Keyword Tool Within the Software Interface

Good Keywords v3 (and SEO Lab Pro) normally opens the Google Keyword Suggestion Tool in the default browser. You can make the software open it within itself. To do this, simply click on the round "Sn" icon on the top left of the software window and select the "Application Settings" menu option. Then un-check the "Open Google KWT in Browser" box.

If you have a Google Accountyou may want to login. This will allow you to use the Google Keyword Tool without the captcha security prompt.

Generate Misspelled Keywords

The KW Manager (KW Builder in SEO Lab) can be used to generate misspelled keywords. To do this, select one of the "My Keyword Lists" within the KW Manager / Builder and enter the keyword phrases into it. Now select the "Misspell" ribbon button in the "Multiply keywords" group. This will generate misspelled combinations for all the keywords in the list.

Generate Large Number of Keyword Phrases by Combining Keywords

You can create a large number of keyword phrases by re-combining the words in existing phrases. Use the "Recombine" button in the "Multiply keywords" group in KW Manager / Builder.

For example, if you have a keyword phrase like

wedding reception decoration ideas

The re-combine option will create

wedding reception decoration ideas
wedding reception ideas decoration
wedding decoration reception ideas
wedding decoration ideas reception
wedding ideas reception decoration
wedding ideas decoration reception
reception wedding decoration ideas
reception wedding ideas decoration
reception decoration wedding ideas
reception decoration ideas wedding

and so on…

Now delete the phrases that make absolutely no sense but keep the good ones.
